The Met Gala is well underway and we're obsessed! The annual fashion gala is back and this year is celebrating the life of the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld with the theme "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty". As you might know, Lagerfeld was best known for his work at the helm of Chanel, which is why some of the evening's best looks (we're looking at you Dua Lipa) have pulled from the archives of the French maison. However, there are other ways to honour the well-known fashion figure than to dig out the double C logos and the brocade suits.
This, at least, is what pop icon and general fashion maven Rita Ora has managed to do. Before the event itself, she took to her social media for a powerful message paying respect to the designer - uploading a carousel of images showing her posing alongside the style icon at various events and also posting a separate selection of images showing her wearing a flouncy, lace-adorned corset which she explained was custom-designed by Lagerfeld. "In memory of Karl I had to bring back this custom piece he made me for a Chanel show performance I did with him in Monaco back in 2013," she wrote as the caption.
On the night itself, she stepped onto the red carpet in a look by Prabal Gurung and...woah. The black gown featured some majorly sheer panels (mostly visible at the bodice and thigh), lace detailing, off-the shoulder straps, ruching at the skirt and an absolutely gigantic cape and train.
It's gothic, it's dramatic and it's very fash-un! She accessorised the look with trailing silver finger jewellery, bangles and drop earrings and looks like a mega glam cross between Stevie Nicks and Morticia Addams - we're obsessed!
