Y2K nostalgia is still alive and thriving, folks. From micro mini skirts and mesh tops to cargo pants and flares, the early noughties remain front and centre in the fashion world. In addition to the revival of certain divisive trends, other celebrities have gone so far as to recreate entire looks from the decade. This year, Christina Aguilera's revived her 'Dirrty'-era yellow chaps combo and JLo's donned her signature Maid in Manhattan get-up. Now, Dua Lipa's celebrating another iconic 2000s look: Britney Spears' denim dress.
Dua's just finished the Australian leg of her 'Future Nostalgia' tour and took to Instagram overnight to share her latest backstage outfit. Captioned "show 93 baby!!!!!!! 🥶", the snaps show the 27-year-old wearing a fitted bustier denim dress from Blumarine's spring/summer 2023 range. The look in question has studded details across the bust and down the length of the torso, with an oversized belt featuring a big 'B' buckle, over the top. While the 'B' is likely a nod to the brand behind the 'fit, we'd like to think that it might also acknowledge Britney's outfit from over two decades ago.
Dua accessorised the look with a large cross necklace and her hair worn down in loose, glossy curls.
Fans were quick to recognise the similarity to Britney's AMAs dress, commenting:
Britney vibes ❤️✨

Britney vibes
To refresh your memory, Britney famously wore her Kurt and Bart patchwork dress to the 2001 American Music Awards, alongside Justin Timberlake who opted for a matching Canadian tuxedo.
Dua isn't the first pop star to pay tribute to the famous moment, with Katy Perry and Riff Raff recreating the his/hers denim combo with for the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards.
Everyone's clicking on...
At the time, Britney even shared a shout out to Katy's custom Versace look, tweeting: "Just when I thought the denim dress had retired … you bring it back! You looked amazing."
We can't wait to see how Britney responds to Dua's iteration.
