The Love Island contestants who returned to their normal jobs after the show

What does life after Love Island look like?

By

The return of Love Island 2022 had us thinking about all the contestants that have come before, and what they're up to now. As we all know, it's not just love that contestants can find on the show. Ex-Islanders like Molly-Mae Hague and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu both found fame on the series and have kicked off successful careers. With that in mind, we decided to take a look at the former contestants who waved goodbye to island life and instead went back to their normal jobs at the end of the show.

Love Island 2022 runner-up Paige Thorne has opened up about returning to her job as a paramedic after the show.

The 24-year-old took to her Insta Stories to bring fans along with her on her first shift back. Speaking in her uniform, she told followers, "So, as you can see I’m back in my uniform, I’m about to be doing my first shift back."

She went on to share her feelings about returning to work, saying, "A little part of me is nervous because it’s been so long since I’ve been off, but more than anything, I’m super excited to be back. Back with my team, back doing what I absolutely love, what I’m passionate about, what I’m comfortable with. I just know it’s gonna be a great shift."

Paige then followed up by filming clips with her ambulance colleagues, as well as showing viewers what she brings with her in her medical bag.

Huge props to Paige for returning to such an important job!

Georgia Townend - Series 7

Georgia from season 7 (who was absolutely dumped from the villa too soon, btw), revealed she had returned to her job as a Marketing Executive at Lidl.

Sharing a photo in front of the company logo, she told her 155k Instagram followers, "The HBIC* has returned 💁🏼‍♀️ Yes I work for @lidlgb and yes that’s likely a contributing factor as to why my time in the villa was so short.

"It’s been instilled into me my entire career that checkouts should be as speedy as possible. *Head Bitch In Charge."

Ahh we love her.

Alex George - Series 4

Perhaps the most well-known Islander who returned to their job after the show is Alex George. Alex, who was an A&E doctor when he entered the villa in 2018, quickly earned the nickname Dr Alex and was the go-to for advice amongst the Islanders on the season. After leaving the villa, he went back to his job in A&E, and worked on the NHS frontline during COVID-19. More recently, Alex was named the government's Youth Mental Health Ambassador, started an OnlyFans account, and has been retraining as a GP.

Anna Vakili - Series 5

After her time in the villa in 2019, Anna Vakili initially left her pharmacist job behind, but soon returned to help out during COVID-19. She also used her social media platform to raise awareness about working on the frontline, and petitioned for pharmacy staff to get better protective equipment.

Greg O'Shea - Series 5

Fellow season five contestant Greg O'Shea won the series with Amber Gill, but the couple soon called it quits. Fans suspected the distance between the pair was the reason for the split, which seems to make sense, given that after filming ended Greg returned to his rugby team in Ireland to train for the Tokyo Olympics.

Theo Campbell - Series 3

Professional athlete Theo Campbell stirred up some serious drama when he joined the villa in 2017. After his time on the show came to an end, he confirmed he'd gone straight back to training.

Malin Andersson - Series 2

Before appearing on season two of Love Island in 2016, Malin Andersson was a trained elderly and palliative carer. She recently returned to work as a carer during the pandemic, tweeting; "I can’t sit at home on my own anymore knowing I have training within the sector... if I can give something more than what I’m doing – then I am satisfied."

Harley Judge - Series 3

Harley's time on series three came to an end after just nine days when Amber Davies coupled up with Kem Cetinay. After leaving the villa, Harley returned to his job as an estate agent, and has also taken up bodybuilding – now he's *almost* unrecognisable.
