The Post star will be playing the mother of Alexander Skarsgard's abusive Perry, married to Nicole Kidman's Celeste.
Meryl hasn't done a huge amount of TV, but did win an Emmy in 2004 for her role in the HBO mini-series Angels In America.
2Penelope Cruz
Getty ImagesThe Hollywood star is taking on Donatella Versace in Ryan Murphy's Assassination Of Gianni Versace, airing on FX and BBC Two this year.
Although the Versace family have distanced themselves from the drama based on Gianni's 1997 murder, the actress recently revealed that she sought Donatella's approval before accepting on the part.
