I’m a Celebrity came to an end this weekend, with Angry Ginge being crowned this year’s winner. As well as the results, though, fans of the show were keen to know what the deal is with actress Shona McGarty and rapper Aitch.
During the series, Aitch revealed that he had a "soft spot" for the EastEnders actress and spoke fondly of her - leading many to wonder if there could be something more between them. Some even speculated their friendship might follow a path similar to Peter Andre and Katie Price, who met on the third season of I’m a Celeb in 2004 before marrying and having two children.
Both Aitch, 25, and Shona, 34, have now addressed the rumours.
Speaking to The Sun, Aitch said: "Shona’s just a cool person. I feel like me and Shona are just cut from the same cloth in a way. We just have the same sense of humour. Obviously I’ve not watched the show, so I don’t know what’s been put out there in any way - but it was nothing like that.
"I just think we had a bond over a bit of a music thing - me knowing that she’s trying to come out of the jungle and pursue this music career, me having a music career."
So, could there be anything more between him and Shona?
"No, not at all. That’s just a good friend of mine," Aitch said, explaining that Shona also spoke about music with Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp - yet no one would assume there was a romance there for obvious reasons, given that he’s married.
On her relationship with the rapper, Shona added in an interview on Lorraine: "I mean, I’m like over 10 years older than him, and honestly the rumours are rubbish. He is like my little brother, I was like his older sister, and we just had the same energy level, we were just hyper and silly, and that’s why we got on."
During an early episode of this year’s I’m a Celebrity, Aitch told Angry Ginge that he had taken a liking to Shona.
"I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Shona, me," he said, to which Ginge replied: "I think she’s really nice, if that’s what you mean yeah…"
"Yeah that’s what I mean," Aitch added.
Based on the duo's recent comments, however, it's clear that this was just platonic and Shona and Aitch are strictly friends! So, I guess we can all stop planning their jungle-themed wedding in our heads!
