A forbidden romance drama is always up our street, and tonight (9 November) Channel 4's latest series is going to hit you right in the feels. Starring Lola Petticrew, Tom Cullen and Gillian Anderson, Trespasses tells the story of Cushla, a young Catholic teacher who falls in love with an older Protestant barrister in 1970s Northern Ireland.
Based on Louise Kennedy's wildly popular novel of the same name, the four-part series will explore forbidden love, politics and religion. As the pair's love affair deepens it puts everyone around them in danger, in an increasingly volatile and violent environment.

Lola Petticrew as Cushla Lavery
Who is Cushla?: Cushla is the series' main character and is Catholic, a teacher by day and works in the pub by night. She falls in love with Michael, a Protestant barrister who is married.
What else has Lola Petticrew been in?: Lola has been on our screens since 2017 and they've had main roles in movies such as A Bump Along The Way, Dating Amber and Tuesday. They've also had roles in TV shows such as Bloodlands, Three Families and Say Nothing.
Tom Cullen as Michael Agnew
Who is Michael?: Michael is a man in his 40s, who is married, a Protestant and a barrister, and crucially he falls for Cushla too.
What else has Tom Cullen been in?: You'll most likely recognise Tom from his role as Anthony Gillingham in Downton Abbey. He's also known for starring in The Gold, Becoming Elizabeth, and Knightfall.
Gillian Anderson as Gina Lavery
Who is Gina?: Gina is Cushla and Eammon's overbearing mother, who has a drinking problem, which causes tension with her daughter.
What else has Gillian Anderson been in?: Where do we start? The icon that is Gillian Anderson has starred in everything from Sex Education, The X-Files, The Fall, The Crown, The First Lady, Tron: Ares and many, many others.
Martin McCann as Eamonn Lavery
Who is Eamonn?: Eamonn is Cushla's brother and runs the pub.
What else has Martin McCann been in?: You'll most likely recognise Martin from his role as Stevie in BBC's Blue Lights. He's also been in Hostage, Say Nothing (alongside Lola) and Marcella amongst other roles.
Oisin Thompson as Gerry Harkin
Who is Gerry?: Gerry is another teacher at the school Cushla teaches in and they form a close friendship.
What else has Oisin Thompson been in?: Apart from Trespasses, Oisin has also starred in the series My Left Nut.
