We've been missing Lauren Lyle on our screens as a quick thinking detective ever since the final episode of Karen Pirie dropped earlier this year. Thankfully she's now back in an equally thrilling series - The Ridge.
The Ridge, available on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer now, stars Lauren as Mia, a Scottish doctor who travels to New Zealand for her sister's wedding. However, a happy event turns into a nightmare when Mia receives a mysterious call from her sister on the flight over and instead of celebrating her sister's marriage, Mia is investigating how her sister died.
Lauren joins a cast of mostly New Zealand actors for the tense six part drama and this is everything you need to know about them.

Lauren Lyle as Mia
Who is Mia?: Mia is a doctor based in Scotland who travels over to New Zealand to attend her sister's wedding, only on her fly out she gets a horrifying phone call from Cassy. In the first episode it's revealed Cassy has died while out on a mountain hike and Mia is determined to find out what happened to her.
What else has Lauren Lyle been in?: You'll most likely recognise Lauren from her leading role in ITV's detective drama series Karen Pirie. She's also known for starring in Outlander as Marsali MacKimmie Fraser and Jade Antoniak in Vigil.
Jay Ryan as Ewan
Who is Ewan?: Ewan is Cassy's fiancé and a prominent man in town.
What else has Jay Ryan been in?: You'll most likely recognise Jay from his role as Mark in the series Top of the Lake. He's also had roles in Mary Kills People, Territory, North of North and IT: Chapter 2.
Chloe Parker as Sadie
Who is Sadie?: Sadie is related to Ewan (as are most people in town) and she had a soft spot for Cassy before she died. She works with her dad in the mortuary.
What else has Chloe Parker been in?: The Ridge is Chloe's biggest role to date, having previously appeared in a short film and the movie Grafted.
Florence Hartigan as Libby
Who is Libby?: Libby is Ewan's half sister and also the local police sergeant.
What else has Florence Hartigan been in?: Florence is best known for her role in the movie Phoenix Forgotten. She's also starred in the TV series Madam, Kid Sister, and The Panthers.
David Van Horn as Harry
Who is Harry?: Harry runs the local mortuary, is dad to Sadie and is married to Libby.
What else has David Van Horn been in?: Early on in his career David starred in the original Avatar movie. Since then he's been in TV series such as The Wilds, Dirty Laundry, American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story, and Sweet Tooth amongst others.
Beth Alexander as Natalie
Who is Natalie?: Natalie works with Ewan and Cassy.
What else has Beth Alexander been in?: So far Beth has appeared in series such as My Life is Murder, One Lane Bridge and Oddly Even.
Kauri Williams as Teddy
Who is Teddy?: Teddy is friends with Cassy and Ewan, and helps in the search for Cassy.

Aroha Rawson as Brenda Olsen
Who is Brenda?: Brenda owns a shop in town and was close to Cassy, she welcomes Mia with open arms when she arrives in town.

Dulcie Smart as Annot
Who is Annot?: Annot is Ewan's mother and she is not very well and is often confused, thinking Mia is Cassy.
What else has Dulcie Smart been in?: Dulcie has been acting for years working in both New Zealand and Germany. She's best know for starring recently in Rematch, $hare and Concordia.
Taqui Nazeer as Riz
Who is Riz?: Riz is a fellow doctor at the hospital Mia works at and is trying to protect her from the case that's been built against her.
What else has Taqui Nazeer been in?: Over the years Taqui has appeared in shows such as Shetland, The Replacement and Casualty.
