It looks like a previous Married At First Sight UK ban has been lifted for the new series.

On 7th October, Ashley Dommett, who is one of the grooms on this year's show, posted a video with some of the other cast having fun while out at the pub. He tagged fellow grooms Bailey Smith and Joe Wood in the caption.

Sacha Jones, who appeared on the show last year, was quick to comment on the clip, pointing out that during her season, the cast weren't allowed to use the camera on their phones.

"I’m just so jealous of all yous being allowed the camera on your phone like this. Ours was blocked," she wrote.

Ashley replied saying: "They’ll definitely be blocked again next year."

It's previously been confirmed that MAFS cast members aren't allowed to record with their personal phones while filming. These are confiscated ahead of meeting their matches at the wedding day, and instead the brides and grooms are given a production phone for the duration of filming.

This is usually a standard phone without camera and internet access - for instance in season eight when Ella Morgan was seen texting JJ from a Nokia brick. However, there have been instances when the contestants have chatted to their friends or family via video call on their phones.

Season six star Alexis Economou previously confirmed that contestant's phones are confiscated ahead of filming. "We were told that we'd have our phones until the morning of our wedding, but I think someone was in the car and had found out who one of the husbands were, so production were worried that it would be leaked," she said in an interview with Grazia.

MAFS Australia star Hayley Vernon confirmed that it's pretty much the same on the Australian series, saying: "So Channel Nine gives us production phones [to film on] and every week we hand them in and the material from the production phone gets uploaded to Channel Nine. And they choose what content they want to use off it."

We have reached out to Channel 4 for comment. Married At First Sight UK airs on E4 Sunday to Thursday.
