Gen V is finally back for season two, and just like last season, it's returning with plenty of graphic scenes, explicit moments and a few full frontal nudes. But are the cast wearing prosthetics in those scenes?

The Prime Video series, which is a spin-off of the streamer's hugely popular The Boys series (which also features a lot of full frontal moments) has returned for its second season, and this time the students of Godolkin University, have a new dean who believes in the Supes' superiority over humans.

In 2023, when the show first aired, it went somewhat viral for its explicit moments, which included one scene where the character of Rufus' penis literally exploded. And honestly TV hasn't been the same since.

While there haven't been scenes quite so graphic as the exploding penis in this season (well, we are only three episodes in) already there's been one rather full frontal scene in a locker room.

During episode three, 'H is For Human', Emma (Lizze Broadway) is searching for a graffiti painter which leads her running straight into the men's locker room, and boom! She's met with a wall of men walking around naked, their appendages on full display.

So are they using prosthetics in season two for the full frontal scenes of Gen V? Here's what you need to know.

Are prosthetics being used in Gen V season 2?

In season one, alongside the exploding penis, there was also the moment in the very first episode when Emma shrinks down and climbs a now giant penis. For this scene, the crew built a 6 foot prosthetic.

And in other scenes in season one, including the exploding one, executive producer Eric Kripke confirmed they do use prosthetic penises for the rest of the cast for their non six-foot size parts too.

Speaking to TV Line in 2023, he told the publication: "What’s funny is, there’s a bit of this in The Boys as well and a couple of times in Gen V, the plan is we don’t want you to expose yourself. You’re basically wearing a speedo with a prosthetic rubber penis at the front. And then we usually give the guys — it’s happened once on The Boys and I think it happened on Gen V — the freedom to design their own penis.

"And I think that helps. They have ownership over their prosthetic penis and it just kind of becomes this funny thing that they’re wearing rather than this, like, intimate experience."

We know the production team favour prosthetics, and so it is likely that in season two they used prosthetics again.

During The Guardian's review of the new season, they also suggest the penises seen on screen are prosthetic, saying of the new show: "There are several outrageous, monocle-fogging set-pieces, including a gratuitous full-frontal male locker room scene complete with prosthetic thunder-dong."

So yes, it's prosthetics all round for the cast of Gen V.
