Harris Dickinson has opened up about filming sex scenes with Nicole Kidman in Babygirl, the upcoming A24 film that the internet cannot wait to see.
Babygirl follows a high-powered CEO named Romy (played by Nicole Kidman), who begins an illicit affair with Samuel (played by Harris Dickinson), a much younger man who starts on the intern project at her company.
As they navigate this newfound sexual relationship, the film explores the complexities of their approach to liberation and fantasy, as well as desire.
But it wasn't all hot sex scenes, as the 28-year-old actor has opened up about a particularly embarrassing moment during filming. Speaking to Variety, Harris shared how they worked with both director Halina Reijn and an intimacy coordinator, and at one point he was asked to dance in a hotel room to a George Michael song, while topless, without any prior rehearsals.
"We'd have a discussion with the intimacy coordinator and then Nicole and I kind of did our own thing with it once we set the parameters of what we were both comfortable with,' he explained. "The intimacy coordinator is saying, 'What are you comfortable with, what do you want as a director, what are you comfortable doing from that vision?' They're facilitating that and doing it very delicately without interrupting the actual scene."
As for the awkward moment? Harris continued that the hotel scene was "just me moving. [Director] Halina put the song and said, 'Just dance.' So I just had a little groove. Maybe I had a little whiskey before. But it was embarrassing.'"
On working with Nicole, he added that she was "the most comforting, warm performer to work across from. She sets the tone on set, and she makes it so easy to be vulnerable and to be funny, because she is so daring. She's so brave, and she does stuff, and you're like, "What the f**k is that?" You can’t even think of it."
We can't wait to see this.
Babygirl is in UK cinemas on 10th January 2025.
