Superhero fans, get ready because Madame Web is coming to cinemas on 14th February with Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts and more starring. But, we're a bit confused, is the film a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
The blockbuster follows Cassandra Webb, a New York City paramedic who starts to develop powers to see the future. Soon, she is forced to confront revelations about her past and protect three young women from a mysterious opponent who wants them dead.
We can't wait to watch the film, but if you're wondering whether it's a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or not, then listen up because here is everything you need to know. Thank us later!
Is Madame Web in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
In case you need a refresher, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or MCU, for short) is centred around superhero films based on Marvel Comics and produced by Marvel Studios. These films include Iron Man, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy and more.
But, other Spider-Man films such as those starring Toby Maguire, Andrew Garfield and voiced by Shameik Moore are not technically a part of the MCU because they were created by Sony Pictures.
So, as for Madame Web, it is also made by Sony and is a part of their own interconnected Spider-Man Universe (SSU), which includes films such as Morbius and Into The Spider-Verse, meaning that it is not technically a part of MCU.
The film is, however, made in association with Marvel and there is likely to be plenty of references and connections to the MCU, just like other SSU movies have had.
Plus, there's been crossovers between Sony and Marvel before such as, spoiler alert, Andrew and Toby featuring in Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside Tom Holland.
Either way, we know we can't wait to watch!
Madame Web is in cinemas from 14th February.
