From those record-breaking Ofcom complaints to producers manipulating cast-members emotions and a lack of body diveristy, it's fair to say that this season of Love Island has had its fair share of criticism.
But now host Laura Whitmore is hitting back at the critics, defending this season of the series after fans repeatedly called out the show.
In a new interview with The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, Laura responded to fans comments that the show got off to a slow start, to which she replied, "Oh, they say that every year!"
The 36-year-old revealed that she got some tips on how to handle fans reactions from hubby Ian Stirling who is the *iconic* narrator of the show. "Iain's obviously worked on it for years and he says 'So week one, they say this. Week one, they say there's no one as good as the previous year," she revealed.
"Then week two, they start to warm up a little bit. Then week three, they're kind of getting into it. Then week four, Casa Amor. Bam! Everyone's into it and they say it's the best year so far.' We still have two weeks to go. It's long."
Not going to lie, Laura's not wrong, even we were wondering when the drama would start to unfold at the beginning of the season, but now there's no shortage, with couple's fighting to stay together.
With only two weeks to go until the finale on August 23rd, it's anyone's guess as to who will take home the Love Island crown this year.
While OG couple Jake Cornish and Liberty Poole seemed to be the front runner, they have recently hit with some bumps in the road after fans were convinced Jake's feelings for Lib weren't genuine.
Meanwhile, with Faye Winter and Teddy Soares’ drama behind them after that *explosive argument* the couple appears to be stronger than ever, as do Millie Court and Liam Reardon who patched things up about after his fling with Lillie.
While back-on-again couple Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank recently went exclusive; not forgetting of course fan favourites Chloe Burrows and Toby Amolaran who are more loved up than ever.
With less than two weeks to go and no doubt plenty more drama to come, we'll be glued to our screens to see what happens next.
