Once we heard the heartbreaking (but necessary) news that Summer Love Island would be cancelled this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic, along with Winter Love Island in 2021, we didn't know what to do with ourselves. Of course, Love Island Australia has thankfully arrived to fill the gaping void in our lives, but we still can't help but miss our British fix.

However, it turns out our summer might not be completely without a UK Love Island after all, as a run of reunion specials are reportedly in the works.

The show's executives are apparently in talks with some of Love Island's biggest stars, according to The Sun, with the potential of a reunion taking place in the UK. The Islanders producers are hoping to see reunite include Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, Paige Turley, Dani Dyer, Amber Gill, Olivia Attwood and Kem Cetinay, according to the publication.

A source revealed to The Sun, "ITV were gutted about pulling the plug on Love Island. It’s one of their most popular shows and also a huge commercial success.

"It just wasn’t feasible to go off to Mallorca and shoot at the villa, but this is a great way to get the show on air and give fans something to tide them over before it can return properly."

They continued, "Hopefully, the best-remembered names will agree to take part as it would be brilliant to see how they get on a few years later after so much has gone on in their lives.

"It could rekindle romantic feelings but it could also just start a load of old rows, especially as there have been a lot of messy break-ups and friendship changes."

Hey, good things come to those who wait. And if a villa reunion does go ahead, you can bet we'll be the first glued to the sofa.
