Viewers of this week’s First Dates were left gasping for breath (dramatic? Me?) after one of the show’s most embarrassing and hilarious moments occurred.
Basically, Channel 4 matched Calum with Lucy, and after spending A LOT of time talking about how rich he is on their date, Calum’s card got declined…
Let’s go back to the beginning, shall we?
After getting caught staring at Lucy’s boobs at the start of the date, Calum continued to disappoint viewers by bragging about his wealth and private education.
He told Lucy stories of his fancy-pants holidays, and boated about his parents’ impressive jobs; saying his “city boy” dad retired when he was just 50, and that his mum was a highly-successful actress.
However, all this bragging came to a painful crescendo when he offered to foot the bill. But alas, his card got declined. Then it got declined again.
Lucy begged to cover the cost of their meal (which, we agree, was preferable to watching his card get declined a third time), but red-faced, Calum just had to “transfer dome funds” before trying to pay again. And we all know how long money can take to go from one account to another, right? Awkward…
Twitter, as you can imagine, wasn’t that sympathetic to poor ol’ Calum’s money problems.
But Lucy wasn’t fazed by all this, and at the end of the episode, decided she’d be keen to go for another date, which they did. And you’ll be glad to hear that payment went through smoothly for Calum.
