From lace blouses to balloon-leg trousers, there's been a string of summer fashion trends that have gotten our nod of approval. The latest — and perhaps most creative — one we've noticed? The most stylish fashion cool girlies wearing scarves as waist belts.
Okay okay... so technically, this trend exploded last summer, with everyone from Alexa Chung to Jennifer Lawrence donning the styling hack. But this year, it's back with a vengeance. Not to mention being *much* more size-inclusive thanks to stores designing their own takes.
Primark, for example, has simply bypassed the need for a scarf and let you cheat the look. It's all thanks to their Scarf Tie Midi Skirt that features a built-in scarf design elegantly draped around the waist. That's 10 out of 10 for both initiative and inclusivity, if you ask us.
The high street store, which is known for its affordability, describes the scarf tie skirt as midi in length, complete with an A-line cut and flowing hem. If we're getting technical about it, it's sort of a wrap-skirt-scarf-tie combo. The overall look takes inspiration from the classic wrap look, while the scarf acts as more of an overlay than a fastening.
But hang on, as there are two more reasons to love this midi skirt. For those keeping an eye on this year's trending colour palettes, you'll know that green has been the shade of the past few months. After owning winter in earthy khaki and olive hues, it's now the go-to colour of the summer in richer shades of lawn green and matcha. And it's set to stick around next season, too, giving you plenty of opportunities to wear this skirt out and about.
So, if your wardrobe is calling for a refresh but your bank balance says the opposite, this skirt is just the ticket. At £16, not only is it super affordable, but it also looks way more luxurious than its price tag. Seriously, it could pass for designer.
Styling-wise, either keep things minimal with a simple tank top and sandals, or pair with the coordinating top for a sophisticated (but affordable) evening look.
