There are few rites of passage more predictable than contemplating a dramatic haircut the moment summer arrives. As temperatures skyrocket, long lengths can start to feel less like a beauty asset and more like an extra layer of clothing – and frankly, that's not the vibe. Central Line commuters, consider this your lived experience.

This is where the bob comes into its own; it's low-maintenance, high-impact and capable of looking like you've made an effort when you've done remarkably little. And right now, one particular iteration is leading the charge: Victoria Beckham's iconic 2000s pob (AKA 'Posh bob').

Now, VB may be sporting longer buttercream blonde lengths these days, but this time last year, she made a compelling case for a pob revival, stepping out with a look that instantly transported us back to her Spice Girls era.

And for summer 2026, it's everything we could want and more: chic, easy to maintain, and totally breathable.

So, what exactly defines the pob? Well, I'm glad you asked! It's all business in the back, party in the front, with sleek, angular lines that sit neatly at the nape of the neck before graduating longer towards the face. Sound familiar? That's because you may also know it as an A-line bob, graduated bob, stacked bob or tiered bob. Apparently, hairdressers love a synonym almost as much as I do... semantics, hey.

In terms of who it's best suited to, Mark Hayes, hairstylist and Senior International Creative Director at HOUSE OF SASSOON, previously shared with Cosmopolitan UK that this variation of bob works best on straight to wavy hair. "It highlights the clean lines and structure of the cut," he said.

For fine hair, Mark shared that the graduated shape at the back helps to create the illusion of extra body and volume. Those with thick hair, however, may need some internal layering to remove the bulk, but the overall silhouette still complements their texture. On curly or coily hair, the effect will be softer and the angled shape less defined unless the strands are straightened or loosely waved.

Not that you need any more convincing – because Victoria's pap snap has already done most of the persuasion – but we've rounded up our favourite takes on the pob for your next salon appointment. Whether you wear yours poker-straight, softly waved, or with a touch of textures, there's a pob with your name on it.
