Peony is the trending fragrance scent of summer 2026: 7 feminine floral perfumes to try now

At 14, an age renowned for impeccable judgement, I decided peonies were my favourite flower. Had I ever smelt one? No. Could I have identified one in the wild? Also no. But Blair Waldorf liked peonies, and frankly, that felt like enough due diligence. The Gossip Girl-to-core-personality pipeline claimed many victims. I was one of them.

Somehow, years later, the universe has retroactively validated my teenage delusion; I genuinely love the smell of peonies. Anything soft, floral and unapologetically spring-coded has me in a chokehold. So, in the name of journalism, I've spent months spritzing my way through the internet's favourite peony perfumes to separate the blooming gorgeous from the wildly overhyped.

Behold, the seven worthy of a congratulatory bouquet...

Hashtag not an ad, but the Cosmo Beauty team love Floral Street's Wonderland Peony so much that when we were curating the Boots x Cosmo Summer Edit, it was an immediate yes. If spring had a defining scent, it would be this.

The peony is bright and sparkling, the guava is almost pick 'n' mix sweet, and the cotton candy note floats around in the background like a sugar rush waiting to happen. It's fruity, floral and unapologetically feminine, without ever tipping into sickly territory.

Jo Malone London do florals, and they do florals well so much so that this perfume has become something of a bridal favourite. The peony is soft and romantic, while the suede feels sophisticated and grown up. Who wouldn't want to associate this perfume with the happiest day of their life?!

Not every perfume needs to reinvent the wheel. Sometimes, you just want to smell undeniably lovely, and Versace's Bright Crystal delivers exactly that. Built around a crowd-pleasing magnolia and peony combination, it's fresh, clean and refreshingly uncomplicated. There's a reason it's remained so popular over the years.

Look, I know. £270 for a perfume is enough to make anyone's eyes water (and briefly consider taking up a side hustle). But if you're in the market for a luxury peony fragrance, Delina is cult status.

It opens with sparkling lychee and warm nutmeg before unfolding into a heart of rose and peony that feels rich, velvety and super indulgent. Sweet without being juvenile and floral without feeling old-fashioned, it's the kind of scent that gets people asking what you're wearing.

While I've seen it described as juvenile, Yves Saint Laurent's Mon Paris may just be one of my favourite scents of all time. It's a fruity floral through and through, bursting with strawberry, raspberry, pear, and orange, before settling into peony, jasmine, and orange blossom. The result is sweet, juicy and hopelessly romantic.

Cruicially, though, it never strays into body-spray territory. Unlike the strawberry-heavy mists that dominated teenage bedrooms in the early 2000s, Mon Paris feels polished and grown-up. It's playful, yes, but there's just enough sophistication here to stop it from becoming cloying.

Peony scents can be sweet and gourmand-like, which, natch, is an acquired taste. But pared back and mixed with notes of pear, raspberry and sandalwood, makes for this crisp and clean Issey Miyake perfume. The fruity hue complements the peony rather than overpowers it, and together, they dry down into a scent fit for a boujee spa. Your fave aromatherapy candle could never.
