What's timeless, pairs well with just about anything in your closet, and is an absolute fashion staple? Yup, you've got that right—it's denim. Wearing jeans and a jean jacket on its own is casual and predictable but wearing denim-on-denim (aka Canadian tuxedo style) can be ~fashun~. There are chic ways to pull it off and to demonstrate this, I scoured through some street style photos and did a little shopping so you can style (and even DIY) jean jacket outfits with jeans like the fashionista you are. There's something for every style! Let's get into it.
Go for Gold Boots
Denim on denim can look a little basic at times. To bring some oomph into the picture, go for a metallic boot. Bonus: gold accessories!
Add a Pop of Color
Dark denim instantly elevates your look but if you want some extra chicness, add a shmancy slingback in a pretty hue (how gorge is this velvet burgundy pair?)!
Bedazzle It
Everything is more fun with embellishments, wouldn't you agree? A fun take on wearing denim-on-denim is going full-on glam. Whether it's pearls, rhinestones, or both, you'll catch everyone's attention. Oh, and you might as well take it to the next level with your bag, too.
Play With Proportions
Bring out the crop tops! For an effortlessly cool aesthetic, go with an oversized denim jacket and slouchy jeans. (And sure, this padded bomber jacket by Miu Miu is super cute—but it's also almost out of stock, so get this other fab look for less below!)
Make It Trendy
Barrel jeans are v popular rn; hop on the trend with this pair from Gap. Also! Channel Western vibes with a star spangled jacket from Rails and a cowboy belt à la Free People.
Get Sporty
In case you didn't know: Sports bras can be worn as a top. Wear a hooded jean jacket (or wear a hoodie underneath your jean jacket) over a sports bra, then pair it with jeans that have funky sporty details (like snap side closures or striped track-pant trim.
Go Off-Duty
Yes, you can totally channel model vibes with a white tee, a plain light-wash jean jacket, and jeans. Don't forget to do the perfectly disheveled hair thing!
Deconstruct Your Look
Instead of wearing your denim in a regular-degular way, go haywire. Seriously, have at it—deconstruct your jacket or purchase it that way for an edgy feel that can't be easily duplicated.
