You know how cultivating your dating profile is basically a group project between you, your best friends, and your sister? It all feels like a modern dating rite of passage at this point, and I can’t lie, the bonding and memories that come from it all are pretty top tier. Now, though, thanks to a brand new Hinge feature, your loved ones can have even more of a direct hand in shaping your online presence.
The feature, called Friend’s Take, is all about potential partners seeing and understanding you through the eyes of the people who know you best. "Your friends see you clearly, often more clearly than you see yourself,” says Logan Ury, lead relationship scientist at Hinge, in the press release. “They know the qualities you'd never think to mention like, 'She's the sweetest dog mom' or 'He’d never admit this, but he's the person everyone calls in a crisis.’ Friend's Take finally gives your community a place to share these special details about you."
Here’s how Friend’s Take works: You send a link to your crew (they don’t have to have the Hinge app) which pulls up a bunch of quintessential Hinge prompts for your loved ones to answer. They can respond with text, a photo, a video, or a voice note.
After the responses are submitted, they go to a queue that’s only visible to you. You can have up to 10 responses in your queue at once, but can only choose three to display on your profile. A Friend’s Take can be switched out at any time, but the responses do expire after a few days. So maybe don’t have everyone submit a ton at once!
This feature is so good because not only do you get to see if someone has friends (a real green flag!), you also get a small sense of the depth of the relationships (are they surface-level friendships or truly locked in?). This could serve as good intel to help you decide which way to swipe.
We love anything that’ll help us all make educated, informed decisions while trying to find love!
Friend’s Take is available now on the Hinge app globally.
