Scamanda—aka the Summer House drama between West Wilson, Amanda Batula, and Ciara Miller—has shaken the nation beyond Bravo. Though West and Amanda addressed rumors that they had been hooking up back in March and revealed they’re exploring a romantic connection, they’re still receiving backlash for going behind Ciara’s back months later.

Now, West is breaking his silence in the wake of his viral whiteboard interview, in which he explains his exact timeline with Amanda. ICYMI, West has historically joined The Broadcast Boys’ interview series every time Summer House drama has gone down over the years—and his recent scandal was no exception.

“I, kind of, did it reluctantly,” West admitted to his co-host, Sophie Cunningham, on the June 27 episode of his Show Me Something podcast. “I’ve been doing those for like three years, so we — this sounds so stupid — but we talked forever [before recording].”

He continued, “We’ve made fun of so many people in so many shows that they have to do the Summer House, and I have to take my licks for that one…Basically, I just showed up and sat there and let them fucking roast me. We recorded for two hours, and it’s a 25-minute cut or something.”

During the white board interview, which went live on June 24 and has since racked up more than 27,000 views, West was asked whether he “got Amanda’s permission” to take part in the conversation.

“Yeah,” West confessed, before confirming that she was “worried” about his participation.

Elsewhere during the interview, he opened up about leaving Summer House for season 11 after several reports surfaced earlier this month.

“In [Bravo’s] defense, I don’t think it would have been a fun summer,” he said.

West echoed that sentiment on his own pod, adding, “It’s been a fucking journey. It was funny, but so we [recorded the white board video]. We’re taking a little time out. I’m not filming this summer, which I think ultimately [is] the right thing for everyone.”

He concluded, “Everyone can take a breather. It wouldn’t have been a fun summer for, literally, anyone.”
