AOC has recently opened up about her decision to freeze her eggs and has started documenting the process on her personal Instagram account. But some of her followers noticed that she hasn’t mentioned her fiancé, Riley Roberts, in any of the content, though they’ve reportedly been engaged since 2022.
This, mixed with a report from Puck’s Chief Washington Correspondent Leigh Ann Caldwell alleging AOC and Riley quietly split two years ago, has the internet raising eyebrows at the progressive politician’s relationship status. So, is AOC single now? Not that it’s anyone’s business, but that doesn’t stop inquiring minds from running wild. Let’s take a deep dive to find out.

It’s unclear, since neither AOC nor Riley has spoken out about their relationship status. The rumor gained traction after Puck’s Chief Washington Correspondent, Leigh Ann Caldwell, claimed that AOC began freezing her eggs because she had quietly split from her fiancé…and according to her, they’ve been split for a while.
“I was told by a reputable Democratic source about 18 months ago that her engagement was called off,” Caldwell wrote, in part, further alleging that “AOC stopped wearing her engagement ring several months before that.”
She also pointed out that there have seemingly “been no public photos of her and Riley together in recent history” to confirm that they’re still together.
Several outlets also reported on the alleged split, including TMZ, whose Capitol Hill sources confirmed: “They’re dunzo.”
“We can’t say for certain when the break-up went down,” the outlet wrote, while Just Jared claims they potentially split two years ago, per Caldwell’s initial post.
So, did AOC and Riley Roberts break up?
If we’re going by Caldwell’s logic—at least, in her theory that AOC and Riley hadn’t been publicly seen together—then there’s a chance they still might be together.
A few months earlier, in May 2026, Manhattan food joint Black Iron Burger posted a photo of the politician dining with Riley. Meaning: They’ve definitely seen each other and have been spotted together fairly recently.
After a New York Post reporter caught AOC on the street while walking her dog (without wearing her engagement ring), she simply responded, “I don’t comment on my private life – thank you.”
When a different reporter asked if her “fiancé was supportive” of her freezing her eggs, she said, “All of my loved ones have been very supportive.”
So…what is the truth??? A lot can happen in three months since that pic was taken, but we’ll have to wait and see if AOC or Riley say their piece.
