The entire Sussex family just reunited with King Charles, an intimate meeting (with no official photos) that marked the first time Charles has seen his grandkids in years. So, what was Prince William up to?
The day of Charles and Harry’s reunion, Prince William and Kate Middleton were photographed at a polo match in Windsor. And apparently the timing was not a coincidence.
“Pictures are the Palace’s most powerful weapon,” a source tells Rob Shutter’s Naughty But Nice. “Harry and Meghan may have secured a private family meeting for away from London, but William and Kate owned the public narrative. That wasn’t an accident.”
The polo match was heavily documented, and a source says, “The Palace understands that a photograph is worth more than a hundred press releases.” Meanwhile, another insider claims that “This is the Firm fighting back. Harry got his private family moment. William and Kate got the public victory. The Palace reminded everyone where the future of the monarchy lies—and they did it without saying a single word.”
As for Harry’s alleged perspective, an additional royal source says, “Harry knew exactly what the optics would be. A meeting with Charles was always going to infuriate William. Harry understands that his father still thinks like a parent, while William thinks like the future King. Those are two very different mindsets, and Harry knows how to play to both.”
Oh, and there’s this: “William’s trust is gone. Harry knows reconciliation with Charles, even in small steps, puts enormous pressure on William. He understands exactly how those dynamics play out—and he’s prepared to use them when it suits him.”
