Another power couple has entered the sporting world, and spoiler alert: They’re insanely cute. For the tennis obsessed, one of the sport’s brightest young stars, Ben Shelton, is currently in a relationship with Washington Spirit soccer champ Trinity Rodman—and despite their busy schedules, they seem to be head over heels in love with each other.

Ben hard launches their relationship on Instagram by sneaking a photo of Trinity kissing his cheek into a carousel post. Swipe to the end to see:
Soon after, Trinity clears up some of the discourse around her and Ben’s relationship—namely the story behind how they actually met—and makes a point to note that Frances Tiafoe, a friend of hers and Ben’s, did not introduce them to each other like he previously claimed.
“I can assure you Frances was not the reason we met or got together,” she said in an interview with ESPN. “I don’t know why he’s taking credit for that. Me and Ben can both cut that out. It was a solely me and Ben thing.”
For the record, their story went a little like this: “I was like, ‘Hey, when you gonna come visit me?’ and he was like, ‘I’ll come right now,’ Trinity explained in an Instagram video (below). “So then he flew out and the rest is history.”
By the end of the month, Ben appears on Trinity’s Instagram. In the photo, she leans back into Ben’s shoulder, while his face stays mysteriously hidden beneath a hat (despite her tagging him in the photo). Her caption? “Dibs 🤭.”

Ben also chimes in on clearing up the story on how he and Trinity got together, telling the New York Post, “Tiafoe had nothing to do with it. He’s taking credit, [saying] ‘Oh, yeah, I put them together. I was like Danny Ainge.’ He’s a liar. He’s trying to make it about himself. It’s not about him, but that’s funny.”

A few weeks later, Ben wishes Trinity a happy birthday on his Instagram page with a simple but sweet message that reads, “happy birthday beautiful girl, I love you.” Awwwww.

Ben and Trinity’s relationship becomes wedding guest official! The couple gets all gussied up for a friend’s wedding, and they look so good, it’s literally unfair.
January 2026
In a lil change of format, Trinity takes her followers along for her swanky date with Ben—and there’s a really intimate moment where Ben pops into frame to kiss her neck (squeal).
Trinity also sits down with Cosmo for an interview and reveals that Ben urged her to temporarily step away from soccer amid her injury.
“When I was going through the injury [this past season]. I was very scared to step away from my team because I was scared they might think, ‘Oh, Trinity just thinks she can do what she wants. She can leave and focus on herself. That's selfish.’ And Ben was like, “Your health is everything. You could get hurt and be done playing soccer, then what?”” she recalled. “And so he just reminded me that I need to prioritize myself before it's too late. And he said: “You are the driver. If you want to turn left, you're gonna turn left. Do you want to crash or do you want to keep going on the road?”
She notes that birthdays and large celebrations can be difficult for her and Ben to do on the actual day, likely due to their sporty commitments. She added, “For us, it's so hard to celebrate literally anything. Even for our birthdays, we celebrated them, like the week before and the week after. We celebrate on the phone. Thankfully for preseason, with Spirit, I'll be going to Florida, and he'll be there.”

While giving a speech after his impressive title win, Ben publicly thanks Trinity for coming out, and sweetly calls her his good luck charm: “I wanna thank my girlfriend for flying here from Brazil. I won a title at I think every tournament that she's been at this year. You’re definitely the lucky charm.”
That same day, Ben posts a photo roundup to his Instagram, which features Trinity front and center.

Wimbledon may not have gone as planned for Ben this year (he was eliminated in the first round by Otto Virtanen in a shocking upset), but chances are Trinity will be there to support him through it.
