Step aside, Kaia Gerber and Lewis Pullman—there’s a new nepo baby romance in town. Last October, Thandiwe Newton’s daughter and Philip Seymour Hoffman’s son stepped out together for the Christian Dior show as part of Paris Fashion Week, and naturally, fans began wondering whether Poetic License costars Nico Parker and Cooper Hoffman were dating. However, it wasn’t until August 2026 the relationship was finally made official.
So...how did they first meet and when did fans become fully convinced that they were an item? Now that Cooper has confirmed their ‘ship, I think the time has come to do a deep dive into their relationship history.
November 2024
Production begins on fellow nepo baby Maude Apatow’s directorial debut, Poetic License, which stars both Nico and Cooper alongside Andrew Barth Feldman, Maisy Stella, Maude’s mom, Leslie Mann, and Jon Bon Jovi’s son Jake Bongiovi. (Side note: When asked by Vanity Fair about her decision to cast several actors who “come from families in the business,” Maude said, “That was never the intention. We auditioned so many people. It was always just whoever fit the role best, and it kind of just ended up being that way.”)
It’s unclear if Nico and Cooper first crossed paths on set or before this, but either way, it seems like the two got preeeetty close while filming.
June 2025
During an interview with The Sunday Times, Nico oh-so-casually mentions that she’s “dating” someone, who she “bashfully” refers to as “sweet.”

Poetic License premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival, where Nico and Cooper pose for some very cute photos together. Ahem:
This video also makes the rounds, which shows Nico cuddling a puppy at TIFF and Cooper telling her, “No, we’re not getting a dog.” Um???

After more than a year of rumors, Cooper finally confirms that he and Nico are an item during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“We didn’t officially start dating until a few weeks after filming, when she came to New York to meet my mom, and I asked her to be my girlfriend,” he revealed, adding, “It was very sweet.”
