You'll likely know by now that last Friday, singer Britney Spears was officially freed from the conservatorship which saw her finances and much of her personal life controlled by her father and a court-appointed outsider for thirteen years.

After remaining silent for much of that time, after the Free Britney movement began to take hold – and grew exponentially, thanks to the support of her many fans – Britney in recent months began to be more vocal about her legal situation too, even stating publicly that she'd like to see her father jailed for his part in it.

Now, after her hot-shot new lawyer Mathew Rosengart stepped in and put an end to the legal contract, thus reinstating the pop icon's freedom, Britney has spoken out about how she celebrated the monumental occasion.

Taking to Instagram to fill her 36 million followers in, Brit posted an artistic picture of a lipstick being stabbed by a fork (seemingly unrelated to her caption) and explained that she had spent the weekend on "cloud 9 the whole time".

And, just as she rightly deserves, she added that she'd celebrated in style by having her first glass of champagne in a beautiful restaurant.

"What an amazing weekend… I felt like I was on cloud 9 the whole time ☁️ !!! I actually got my first glass of champagne 🥂 at the most beautiful restaurant I’ve ever seen last night," she wrote.

Everyone's clicking on...

The singer continued on to say that she has no plans of slowing down her celebrations either, adding that she'd also be celebrating her birthday (she will turn 40 on 2 December) for longer than usual this year.

"I’m celebrating my freedom and my B day for the next two months!!!!!!!!!!! I mean after 13 years… I think I’ve waited long ENOUGH!!!! I’m so happy my lawyer Mathew Rosengart came into my life when he did," she said. "He has truly turned my life around… I’m forever thankful for that!!!!"

Britney also described the court ruling as a "victory" and shared that it was emotional to see so many rejoicing in the verdict alongside her (many videos of street parties were shared after the ruling was announced). "What a sight seeing so many people celebrating my victory …. I love my fans so much … so thank you 🌹 !!!!⁣"

Following the announcement that the conservatorship had been terminated, Britney's fiancé, Sam Asghari, also posted on Instagram – he kept his sentiments to the point with an image of the word 'Freedom' on a pink background. The picture was captioned: "History was made today. Britney is Free! ❤️"

We're so happy for Britney – here's to more champagne, more beautiful restaurants and more living however she sees fit!
