Love Island viewers were left feeling uncomfortable when friday night's episode showed an explosive argument between Faye Winter and Teddy Soares after the Islanders watched a series of unseen clips from Casa Amor, including Teddy and Clarisse Juliette chatting about their sexual chemistry.

Faye wasn't happy with what she saw on screen and things took a dramatic turn as she confronted partner Teddy about what had happened. "I told you the truth. And you told me jacks**t," she shouted, "I don’t want to speak to you right now, because I don’t want to scream. You look like a two-faced p***k!"

As the episode unfolded, viewers at home took to Twitter to comment on how distressing the scenes were – especially since ITV had made a promise to support contestant's mental health following the deaths of two former Islanders.

Now, Faye's family have taken to the stories of her Instagram account, which they're running while she's in the villa, to urge viewers to remember that Faye's only human and to make clear that hurtful messages directed towards her online are received by real people.

"We understand that fans of Love Island have opinions on Friday night’s episode," Faye's nearest and dearest said. They added that while they "don’t want to comment on the events of the show" they're urging everyone to remember a few points.

"You are watching a highly edited TV show which is created for entertainment – you can never see the full picture.

Everyone's clicking on...

"Faye is human, she may not always get things right.

"There are human beings managing the islander’s social media pages who will be seriously effected by your comments," the post continued.

"We ask that everyone please remembers this before commenting or messaging. We make no apology for turning off comments, blocking & deleting to protect the mental well-being of ourselves and Faye when she comes out. We would encourage anyone struggling to do the same thing.

"We hope that we can all get back to enjoying the show together from now on. Love team Faye x."

The words from Faye's family come after ITV2 also released a statement following many viewers saying they had complained to Ofcom about the scenes that played out on Friday night.

"Welfare and duty of care towards our contributors is always our primary concern, and we take the emotional well-being of all the Islanders extremely seriously.

"We have dedicated welfare producers and psychological support on hand at all times who monitor and regularly speak to all of the Islanders in private and off camera, especially if someone appears to be upset.

"All the Islanders are therefore fully supported by the professionals on site and by their friends in the villa. Islanders can always reach out and talk to someone if they feel the need," ITV2 said.
