This week, the Duchess of Cambridge spent two days undertaking work experience in Kingston Hospital’s Maternity Unit in London.

The secret stint wrapped up on Wednesday and wasn’t promoted by the palace. Instead, it was unearthed from an official record of the engagements carried out by the Royal Family.

The mum-of-three reportedly undertook the work experience as part of her Early Years project, which seeks to support children in their earliest years to prevent future social and health challenges and combat inter-generational disadvantages.

“We all know how important childhood is; and how the early years shape us for life. We also know how negative the downstream impact can be, if problems emerging at the youngest age are overlooked, or ignored.

“It is therefore vital that we nurture children through this critical, early period,” the Duchess of Cambridge said in a statement.

This is one of Kate’s many amazing projects geared towards mothers and children.

The 37-year-old is the Royal Patron of East Anglia's Children's Hospices, which cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions while also supporting their relatives.

In October, the Duchess opened the charity’s new hospice in Norfolk and spent time with the young patients and their families being supported by the charity.

Along with Prince William and Prince Harry, she launched mental health campaign Heads Together in 2017. And in 2018, launched Children's Mental Health Week in a bid to inspire and support little ones to openly discuss their feelings.

We’re looking forward to all the incredible work Kate gets up to in 2020.
