Louis Tomlinson and his family have suffered two great losses over the past few years. In 2016 Louis and his six siblings' mother, Johannah, died of leukaemia, and then tragically last month, Louis' 18-year-old sister Felicité died of a suspected heart attack.

Former One Direction singer Louis has remained quiet about the death of Felicité, while his other sisters have paid emotional tributes to the teenager online. But an interview recorded just days before Felicité passed away was aired this week, in which Louis speaks openly about how he copes with grief.

Speaking to Dan Wooton for the Lorraine show, Louis talked about how his new song, Two Of Us, is dedicated to his mum. Opening up in a public way with personal lyrics helps Louis and his family to share the burden of their grief, he explained.

"We can all kind of talk about it a little bit more and that’s why I think I feel good about singing the lyrics and speaking about it publicly," said Louis.

Reflecting on the significance of the song, the singer explained: "My mum always wanted me to play piano… really knowing that she liked this idea and with this song and video I just went for it and I think I pulled it off."

While Felicité isn't mentioned in the interview, as her tragic death hadn't occurred at the time of its recording, Louis did open up about how his three year-old son Freddie helped him through the loss of his mum.

Everyone's clicking on...

"I have said a few times, it’s the responsibility side of things that have made the [grief] process a little bit easier for me.

"Every time I spend time with Freddie… you feel so much love and it doesn’t matter what’s going on, in that moment that’s all you are thinking about. Those times with him are priceless."

Writing on Instagram in the wake of Felicité's death, younger sister Daisy Tomlinson described her own experience of grief. "No words will come close to explaining how broken I am, once again. My precious sister. My heart is bleeding," Daisy wrote.

20-year-old Lottie also posted publicly about the loss of her younger sister.

"My Fizzy, my baby sister, my best friend. I’m incomplete without you, I’m empty. I can’t picture my life without you," she wrote.

"I wish we could have lived life together for a little longer. Mama needed you and you needed her, you’re finally together again."
