The wait is finally over, the much anticipated season four of Emily In Paris finally drops on Netflix *today*. Well, the first five episodes at least, with part two coming in September. And to celebrate the occasion, the cast of the hit series (save for Camille Razat, who was sorely missed) turned out to the Los Angeles premiere last night [Wednesday 14 August] in ensembles worthy of their fashion-forward characters.
Yep, even for those who've never seen Emily In Paris before (side note: trust us when we say you're missing out), the show's OTT sartorial signature is notorious. No wonder, given how much work goes into pulling together all the costumes. For behind-the-scenes secrets of season four outfits, we got the inside scoop from series costume designer Marylin Fitoussi which you can read here.
But back to the premiere, where Lily Collins, Ashley Park and Philippine Leroy Beaulieu (who play Emily Cooper, Mindy Chen and Sylvie Grateau, respectively) all wowed in stunning red carpet gowns that shared one coordinating detail in particular: peplums.
Yep, the trio got the Y2K memo. And, as with any red carpet event, we're here to break down each of their looks. First up, Lily Collins.
The leading lady's custom Armani Privé design featured the most obvious peplum iteration with the black sequinned bodice of her strapless dress featuring a flared hem overlay that sat above a straight see-through maxi skirt embellished with yet more sequins in a diamond checked pattern.
Patent black court shoes as well as diamond drop earrings, peeking out from her fresh short bob haircut, and a coordinating ring completed the sparkling look.
Everyone's clicking on...
Next up, Emily's BFF Mindy. Who is conveniently portrayed by Lily's IRL BFF, Ashley Park.
The Only Murders in the Building star looked radiant in a one-shoulder silver Lever Couture dress that looked like it was constructed from layered, individual strips of fabric. Curving up and over her hips, the dress simultaneously created a peplum silhouette as well as completely open sides creating hip-high (!!) leg slits. Ashley added towering silver metallic platform sandals to her 'fit, and pulled her hair into a high ponytail to show off her Pandora jewellery.
And last, but by no means least, Philippine Leroy Beaulieu channelled her inner Sylvie in Schiaparelli SS24 Couture. Featuring an asymmetric tasselled hem and decorated entirely in sequins, her black dress, too, featured amplified hips that gave an exaggerated hourglass figure.
The return of the peplum may have previously been controversial, but Lily, Ashley and Philippine have us fully convinced. Now if you'll excuse us, we'll be bingeing Emily In Paris on repeat.
