This time round, there's a whole new cast and storyline, as talented heart surgeon Charlotte and her husband Jacob, find their lives disrupted by the arrival of their enigmatic new neighbour Mia.

Annabel Scholey as Charlotte
Who is Charlotte? Charlotte Roberts is a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon. She is hugely competitive and highly respected at work. Married to Jacob and happily child-free, Charlotte begins to question if a predictable life is all she wants. When her ex Leo returns and Mia enters the picture, she starts to consider breaking free from her routine.
What else has Annabel Scholey been in? Annabel Scholey gained recognition for her role in the BBC supernatural drama Being Human in 2009 and more recently starred as Anne-Marie Blake in the true crime miniseries The Sixth Commandment.
Sam Palladio as Jacob
Who is Jacob? Jacob is a consultant anaesthetist. Charming and confident, he adores Charlotte but hides insecurities about his status. When Mia arrives, she becomes a tempting risk he may not be able to resist.
What else has Sam Palladio been in? Sam Palladio is an English actor and musician, best known for playing Gunnar Scott in the ABC musical drama Nashville. He has also appeared in recurring roles on the comedy Episodes and the sci-fi series Humans.
Aggy K. Adams as Mia
Who is Mia? Mia is the new surgical nurse at the hospital where Lottie works. She has migrated from Norway to the UK and moves into the house next door to The Roberts. From the get-go, it's very clear Mia has a mysterious past.
What else has Aggy K. Adams been in? Adams in a British actress. She previously starred in The Witcher and had a lead role in film Oh, Ramona!.
Sendhil Ramamurthy as Leo
Who is Leo? After a whirlwind romance with Charlotte in med school, Leo’s travelled the world working for charities, avoiding his wealthy family’s lifestyle. Now back home to care for his ill father, seeing Charlotte again stirs old feelings - will he try to win her back?
What else has Sendhil Ramamurthy been in? Sendhil Amitabh Ramamurthy is an American actor. He gained widespread recognition as geneticist Mohinder Suresh on NBC’s sci-fi drama Heroes and has also appeared in shows like Covert Affairs, Beauty and the Beast, and Netflix's Never Have I Ever.
Hugh Dennis as Alan
Who is Alan? Shunned by the community and recovering from a stroke, Alan is serving community service after his past with season one's Becka was exposed. Now isolated and alone, he wonders if he can ever truly change.
What else has Hugh Dennis been in? Hugh Dennis is a comedian and actor. He was a panellist in every episode of the comedy show Mock the Week and is one half of the double act Punt and Dennis alongside Steve Punt. His TV and film roles include appearances in Fleabag, Nativity Rocks!, No Time to Die and Beyond Paradise.
Maimie McCoy as Gemma
Who is Gemma? Gemma is a senior manager at the hospital and Charlotte’s longtime best friend. She's still reeling from her divorce after her husband Ben left her for a younger woman. Things begin to look up when she meets Leo, however. But with Leo’s heart still tied to Charlotte, is there any chance for something more?
What else has Maimie McCoy been in? The actress previously starred as Milady de Winter in The Musketeers and plays the lead female role in ITV’s reboot of Van der Valk.
Adam James as Ben
Who is Ben? Ben is the hospital’s medical director, Jacob’s boss and mentor. In a mid-life crisis, he left his wife Gemma for a much younger gym receptionist, but as Gemma grows close to Leo, he starts to question his choices.
What else has Adam James been in? James' credits include Band of Brothers, The Mother of Tears, Ancient Rome: The Rise and Fall of an Empire, Bonekickers, Henry VIII: The Mind of a Tyrant and a long running storyline in Casualty.
Tanya Moodie as Yvonne
Who is Yvonne? Yvonne is Mia’s closest friend on the nursing staff. She keeps out of the hospital gossip and drama. Warm-hearted but unlucky in love, she’s intrigued when Mia suggests a match - Alan. But can Yvonne look past his history, and is Alan truly ready for a fresh start?
What else has Tanya Moodie been in? Tanya Moodie is a British-Canadian actor and producer, best known for her roles in Motherland and Silo, as well as her acclaimed stage work with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, and Paris’s Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord.
Jackie Clune as Annette
Who is Annette?: Annette is a matron at the hospital and takes an immediate dislike to Mia.
What else has Jackie Clune been in?: It's a Motherland reunion! Jackie is best known for playing the teacher Mrs Lamb in the BBC series. She's also appeared in episodes of The Bill, Mandy and Towards Zero.
Janine Duvitski as Gloria
Who is Gloria?: She's back! Gloria the nosy neighbour from season one has made her return for season two.
What else has Janine Duvitski been in?: Janine is best known for her role in Benidorm. She's also been in the movies About a Boy, The New World and The Madness of King George amongst many other roles too.
Pål Sverre Hagen as Isak
Who is Isak?: Isak is a mysterious figure from Mia's past.
What else has Pål Sverre Hagen been in?: Prior to appearing in The Couple Next Door, Pål has appeared in series Requiem for Selina, Furia, The Shift, Beforeigners and Valkyrien.
