Jennifer Aniston put out a fire
Jokingly using some fire to kill germs on an envelope, Jimmy Kimmel got more than he bargained for and sent a bin up in flames. Luckily, Jen An was on hand to extinguish the blaze. Phew.

Coronavirus pandemic or not: the show must go on. And the Emmys adapted as necessary with hazmat suit-clad presenters handing out awards. Casual.

Always Be My Maybe star Randall Park appeared on stage to present an award... alongside an alpaca. There was no explanation, but it was kinda cute?

The fake audience laughs
Just like with this year's MTV VMAs, no live audience means producers have to get creative. And they did just that, editing fake audience laughs from last year's show over Jimmy Kimmel's opening speech. However, he quickly revealed it was all false, which meant the rest of his jokes throughout the show were met with silence. We can't decide which is more awkward.
The pre-recorded aceptance speeches

Jason Bateman was incorrectly announced as a winner
Jason Bateman was wrongly announced as a winner for Guest Actor in a Drama for The Outside, instead of the real winner, Ron Cephas Jones, who won for This Is Us. Producers were forced to interject with an on-screen message, reading, "Our apologies, an incorrect winner has been announced. We’re fixing it now." Oops.
