ITV’s twisty thriller, The Stolen Girl, is back on ITV tonight (and yes it’s already on ITVX and Disney+ too).
Starring the likes of Holliday Grainger, Ambika Mod, and Denise Gough, The Stolen Girl untangles the complicated backstory behind a child’s disappearance.
It’s plot-heavy and addictive, with the action split between Manchester and southern France – despite the original novel being set in Scandinavia.
Here’s a closer look at all the main locations used in the show!
The Stolen Girl filming locations
Lucia's school
The school we see Lucia and Josie in at the start of the series was filmed at Cheadle Hulme School, in Cheshire.
It’s a grand, private day school with striking, traditional buildings and expansive grounds.
Fees start at £4,278 for the infant school alone and increase significantly for older pupils.
The Blix's house
The Blix family home was filmed in Stockport, at a detached red-brick period property located within easy reach of central Manchester.
Producers were specifically looking for a spacious family home they could use for an extended period, eventually filming there for around two months.
Elisa's childhood home
Marsden in West Yorkshire was used for the fictional village of Eyton, where Elisa grew up in a commune.
The surrounding hills and open landscape are involved in key parts of the drama – like when Elisa drives away from her dramatic final encounter with her parents.
Nina's French hideaway
The majority of Holliday Grainger’s scenes were filmed in the south of France, at Domaine d’Orvès — a 17th-century manor house within extensive gardens.
On her time spent in France, Grainger said: “We were in France for five weeks. I think I only did three days in Manchester and the rest was in France, which was great. For most of the time we were at this amazing beautiful Bastide – this huge house that was so gorgeous and perfect for a bohemian family home.”
The land surrounding the estate features in the final episode, when Lucia escapes and Nina and Elisa race to find her.
Rebecca's fake home
Another stunning location is Rebecca's home – which is later discovered to be fake when a cleaner explains it’s a holiday rental house.
This was filmed at The Glass House in Fulwood Park, Liverpool.
The prison
Xavier Samuel, who plays Marcus Turner, filmed many of his scenes inside a real prison.
Jail scenes were filmed at Shrewsbury Prison in Shropshire – which you can actually visit. The former prison closed in 2013 and is now open to the public, offering guided tours, ghost hunts and overnight stays. It has also previously featured on The Apprentice in Series 17.
The Stolen Girl is available on ITV1 and ITVX now.
