Who is the real Mei Li?

Episode nine opened with the recovery of a woman's body from a river. Security services agent Alex Burns claimed it was the body of Mei Li, a 23-year-old woman from Hong Kong, who had a bounty on her head from the Hong Kong government.

However, at the end of episode nine, the real Mei Li was discovered hiding out in her parents' restaurant. During the next episode she went onto explain she is seen as a threat from the Hong Kong authorities due to her involvement in protesting the release of a billionaire.

Later on Kit informs everyone Hong Kong is wanting Mei's arrest for HK$1million. And by the end of the episode she is told to leave by her family in order to keep herself safe.

Who was the woman they thought was Mei Li?

After discovering the real Mei Li is actually alive, it then begs the question of whose body they discovered at the start of episode nine. Well it turns out she was actually a woman named Na Chen, who was a Chinese national who had a visa to study in the US. She had attended Harvard and ended up stealing intellectual property from their lab and had an affair with the professor in order to get it.

It turns out her death was then the result of this technology theft as various companies try to compete to secure the tech.

What's the deal with new character Helen?

Towards the end of episode nine, Nikki has a seemingly innocent interaction with a woman named Helen who appears to have her handbag stolen and the pair connect, with Nikki offering to be a witness for the robbery. However, if you've watched Silent Witness before you would likely have had your suspicions that all wasn't what it seemed.

The pair go for drinks on a few occasions and during the last one, Helen drugs Nikki and takes her to an abandoned farm building along with her associate Linda.

It's here we discover Linda and Helen have been the ones all along trying to steal the tech from Pike's company. Kit discovers Helen had actually previously worked for a British-American company called Forgeon Systems who turn IT into the "weapons of tomorrow".

Back at the farm they use Nikki's login to hack into the Bowman Centre's server and takeover, causing a black out. Linda attempts to steal the Bowman's files, but thankfully Kit manages to stop her.

After this Linda tries to convince Helen to drug Nikki again using the Bufotoxin again, and Helen refuses saying she's not a killer like Linda, therefore suggesting that Linda was responsible for the deaths of Na Chen and Rodrigo, from earlier on in episode 10. Thankfully Jack manages to save Nikki and Helen and Linda are arrested.
