The burgeoning maybe-couple were papped having dinner, then they were spotted having another dinner, then a source came through with more intel than we were emotionally prepared for, and now we need a timeline to sort it all out.

Justin and his wife, Sophie, announce their separation after 18 years of marriage. "Hi everyone, Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate," Justin wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. "As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build."

After weeeeeeks of rumors, Katy and Orlando confirm their relationship is over, giving a statement to Us Weekly. Ahem:
"Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting. They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect."

The Sun manages to get ahold of not one, but two of "Trudeau's close associates" who are more than happy to spill. Things we learned, in list form:

A source tells the Daily Mail that Justin and Katy have cooled off.
"I know for a fact that Justin wasn't thrilled about the pictures getting out," they explain. "It was a first date. A first date! And these pictures came out and it became this huge thing, which is not what he seems to have wanted. Katy didn't seem to care nearly as much, but he was the one who was bothered. It didn't chase him away or anything, but it wasn't ideal."
The insider adds that "if you're going to be with Katy, you have to deal with the paparazzi and the fallout. I don't know how prepared he was for that. It can be a lot and it can be overwhelming."
In conclusion: "She's busy, he's busy. They have a lot going on, and the newness has worn off. But there's nothing negative about it. They just aren't in constant communication anymore. Aaaaand they're back! A source for Us Weekly claims Katy and Justin are “still speaking and are very interested in each other” but making an effort to keep things “private” for now.
A second insider notes that the two aren’t “serious,” in large part because Justin is a politician and Katy is “extremely busy right now” on her Lifetimes Tour. That said, the two are planning to see eah other in person in a few weeks after Katy wraps her Brazil tour dates. “Katy is taking it day by day but is very open to dating,” they add.

These two are still going strong! A source tells the Daily Mail that "Katy is very, very interested in him. She says he's a real catch, a high-quality guy. She keeps a lot of details to herself, but she clearly still likes him a lot."
"They just are so busy and in different cities, so they aren't physically together" the insider adds. "But if there's anyone worth having a long-distance relationship with, it's him. She likes him a lot. He likes her a lot. I'd even say they're enamoured.' he's actually a pretty good texter.
