The Couple Next Door is the psychological thriller which had us hooked for its portrayal of passion, good ol' fashioned swinging, and the sinister underside of suburban bliss.

Season one wrapped up in 2023, and now a second season is introducing us to a new cohort of characters, love triangles, and drama spanning from decidedly non-ethical, non-monogamy.

The official synopsis for season two reads as follows:

"Brilliant heart surgeon, Charlotte Roberts (Annabel Scholey), and her husband, consultant anaesthetist Jacob (Sam Palladio) take centre stage, alongside their mysterious new colleague Mia (Aggy K Adams) and Charlotte’s old flame Leo (Sendhil Ramamurthy).

Leo’s return sparks a change in Charlotte and Mia seizes the opportunity to work her way into Jacob and Charlotte’s confidence, their street, and eventually even their bed, befriending cul-de-sac outcast, Alan (Hugh Dennis) along the way. But it’s not long before Mia’s past comes back to haunt her, leading Charlotte and Jacob to question who she really is, especially when patients at the hospital start mysteriously dying."

Who is Mia in The Couple Next Door?

Viewers of the show might be particularly intrigued by Mia Eldegard, a red-haired nurse from Norway who is clearly ready to shake things tf up.

"New in town, with a very mysterious past, surgical nurse Mia is clearly trying to run from someone or something. With a very un-British attitude to both work and sex, Mia has an uncanny ability to draw people in and make them desire her. But this can also make her a formidable enemy. When she sees Charlotte and Jacob for the first time, she’s immediately fascinated by them and determined to work her way into their seemingly perfect marriage."

Who is Aggy K. Adams, who plays Mia in The Couple Next Door?

Mia is played by Aggy K. Adams, a 30-year-old actress who was born in Poland before living in the US with her family and later settling in the UK as a child.

In 2019 she appeared in music videos for Tom Walker and Stereophonics, also starring in the Romanian coming-of-age film Oh, Ramona! as the titular Ramona.

In 2021, she appeared in one episode of Les Petits Meurtres d'Agatha Christie, a French crime drama.

In 2023, she starred in the Amazon Prime Video show Greek Salad and, in 2024, appeared in the sci-fi film Altered alongside Tom Felton.

You're most likely to recognise Adams from The Witcher, where she appears in season three as Iskra, a member of The Rats. To jog your memory, Iskra is an elf and The Rats are a violent group of outcasts who Ciri links up with.

There were plans to create a The Rats spin-off prequel, but they don't seem to have materialised.

What has Aggy K. Adams said about playing Mia in The Couple Next Door?

Adams has spoken about being drawn to Mia when reading The Couple Next Door season two script, saying: "I fell in love with Mia the minute I read the script. I thought she's a great, complex character with so many different layers."

She's also opened up about Mia's character arc throughout the series (spoilers below!).

"Mia hasn't had an easy life, and it doesn't get easier for her when she gets to Leeds. She is portrayed in the series as a very mysterious character and reveals her story gradually. She's alone, an outsider and a survivor of an abusive relationship, which left her reeling from serious consequences," Adams has shared.

"In trying to figure out who she is and connect to people, she's stripping off many layers and trying different things, so you don't quite know what she's doing and why and I'd like to keep it that way," she added.
