Performing on a festival stage to thousands of people and getting hit by a firework is by far one of the worst situations we'd want to find ourselves in (because this is totally a scenario we would be in), and yet for Sabrina Carpenter this is exactly what happened over the weekend.

While performing at Outside Lands in San Francisco, the 25-year-old singer's set was momentarily interrupted by the planned firework display which sparked a little too aggressively and saw Sabrina hit by a few sparks.

Sabrina ran away quickly to join her backing dancers, laughing at the technical mishap and saying "Oh my god".

Thankfully, Sabrina and the rest of her backing dancers and singers appeared to be left completely unharmed from the fireworks.

Sabrina hasn't addressed the fireworks yet, but did take to Instagram today (12 August) to celebrate headlining the festival. She shared a number of photos from the festival, including one of her performance with Kacey Musgraves, whom she invited to sing with her on stage, much to the delight of fans (honestly, wish we could have teleported to San Francisco).

Captioning the Instagram post, Sabrina said: "headlined @outsidelands :o thank you to everyone who came. special thank you to the angel that is @spaceykacey for coming out to sing and dance to Nancy Sinatra with me :’) and thank you to my whole team and crew. all the talented people who made this show happen on and off stage, i love you all so much."

The firework mishap didn't stop Sabrina from performing her set, as she gears up to go on her new 'Short n Sweet' tour following the release of her next album of the same name.

The new album is released next week on 23rd August and she'll then begin her tour in North America the following month exactly a month later, playing the opening night on 23rd September at the Nationwide Arena in Ohio.

Sabrina's new album comes after the iconic success of her two most recent single releases, first 'Espresso' in April this year, which was quickly followed by 'Please, Please, Please' in June. And course, we can't forget the music video to 'Please, Please, Please' which featured Sabrina's boyfriend Barry Keoghan.

Oh, to have a BAFTA winning boyfriend who is just on call to star in your music videos.
