Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have publicly criticised each other on social media following an argument over North West's TikTok account.

It all started when 44-year-old rapper Kanye West took to Instagram to share his thoughts on 8-year-old daughter North having a TikTok account. Along with a screenshot from @KimAndNorth's page, he wrote on his grid, "SINCE THIS IS MY FIRST DIVORCE I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO ABOUT MY DAUGHTER BEING PUT ON TIK TOK AGAINST MY WILL? [sic]"

Kim, 40, quickly took to her own account to share an Instagram Story, defending herself against Kanye's words.

She wrote in full:

"Kanye's constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create. As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision - because it brings her happiness. Divorce is difficult enough on our children and Kanye's obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all. From the beginning I have wanted nothing but a healthy and supportive co-parenting relationship because it is what is best for our children and it saddens me that Kanye continues to make it impossible every step of the way."

She added, "I wish to handle all matters regarding our children privately and hopefully he can finally respond to the third attorney he has had in the last year to resolve any issues amicably."

Last month Kanye told Hollywood Unlocked's Jason Lee, "Don't have my daughter wearing lipstick on TikTok — or don't have her on TikTok at all — if I'm not there to approve that."

Per TikTok's safety guide, children under 13-years-old have their accounts put onto the app's 'Younger Users experience', which has additional privacy and safety protections designed specifically for this audience. It's unclear whether North's account has been placed under TikTok's Younger User experience, given that the account is specified as being "managed by an adult".

Kim and Kanye share four children - North (8), Saint (6), Chicago (4) and Psalm (2) - and were married for seven years before she filed for divorce in January 2021.
