Just when you think Euphoria can’t get *any more* intense, season two episode four blows it out of the park. In the most recent episode of the HBO Emmy-winning series, (and also the halfway point of season two) viewers see Rue, played by Zendaya, struggling with her drug addiction again in scenes that feel all too familiar to the season one finale.

And after a dramatic end to episode four, there's been a lot of speculation as to whether Rue dies midway through the series, but fans have a theory about what they think really happens to her.

The episode begins with an epic montage that plays out Rue and Jules’ relationship through some of pop culture’s most iconic love stories, including Sleeping Beauty and Titanic. “I don’t think you understand how much I love Jules”, Rue says, followed by, “this may be the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me”.

But about three quarters into episode 4, a struggling Rue asks Elliot and Jules to drop her off on the side of the road. When she gets home, she pulls out her suitcase of drugs and takes a few pills from it.

And what happens next has sent Euphoria fans into a social media frenzy. Recalling similarities between Rue’s season one overdose, the episode sees her imagining her own funeral in which she hugs her late Father, and fans are quickly putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Or so they think.

One Twitter user wrote, “So we gotta wait until next Sunday to find out if Rue died or not #EUPHORIA”, while another typed “Not Rue hallucinating about her father. I hate to say it but our girl might be seeing the light #EuphoriaHBO #Euphoria”

And to add even more fuel to the fire, fans think that because Rue didn’t narrate the episode, it means she’s already dead:
