Kanye West's clothing brand, Yeezy, is in line to receive government funding as a result of the coronavirus crisis despite Kanye's billionaire status.

According to a list that was released on Monday, Yeezy is one of the companies that is set to receive a government loan through the Paycheck Protection Program, the US Small Business Administration said.

The company, which West set up in 2009 with Nike has had clearance for between $2 and $5 million as part of the scheme, which was set up to prevent job losses and redundancies as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Reportedly, West has not given guarantees to the brand's 160 employees over job security, as coronavirus affected sales of the company's products.

This comes just a couple of months after West criticised Forbes for announcing he was a billionaire, reportedly texting editors at the title, saying, "It’s not a billion. It’s 3.3 billion [sic] since no one at Forbes knows how to count."

Prior to this when Forbes released its annual billionaire's list and Kanye wasn't on it, he reportedly texted a Forbes journalist saying, "You know what you’re doing... You’re toying with me and I’m not finna lye [sic] down and take it anymore in Jesus name."
