- Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner got secretly married earlier in May, and Diplo live-streamed the entire thing.
- Diplo has responded to Joe's claims that he did it without their permission and "ruined" everything.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are getting married in France later this summer, but before they do that, they decided to have a little wedding ceremony in Las Vegas because—and to use some vintage slang—YOLO. They made their union court-house official earlier this month and Diplo live-streamed the whole thing on his Instagram Stories. That was great for everyone who wasn't invited to the ceremony and wanted to cry about not marrying a Jonas Brother, but Joe later revealed Diplo did that without their permission and ruined the whole thing. Uh, dude! Not cool!
Joe sat down with the fine folk over at Capital Breakfast and recounted the whole ordeal. First off, Joe jokingly said, "Yeah, he did ruin it." Then, he basically said Diplo is the type of person whose parents definitely should've shamed him for being on his phone all the time. He added, "I love Diplo, but he loves his 'gram more than a 13-year-old. He posts every five seconds. He literally, like, live-streamed with dog-face filters."
While Joe and Sophie would be totally within their right to be upset with the DJ, they simply laughed it off. I mean, who doesn't want their wedding photos to have dog ears all over 'em?? Joe said, "We just laughed. We loved it. We thought it was ridiculous, and I just love that he was walking into the chapel and he was like, ‘going to hit this wedding real quick,' [in his Instagram Story]."
Diplo later responded to the claims, though, telling Ryan Seacrest that Joe had actually called him to apologise that his comment has been blown way out of proportion. He also took some time to explain why he thought it would be a good idea to live-stream someone's wedding without asking them first. He said, "I didn't know it was a serious wedding. I really didn't know what was going on...I was just like, 'This is crazy. Let me record this.'"
And in Diplo's defence, there were apparently a bunch of other people there taking pictures. He explained, "And there was mad people with cameras. I didn't know I was the only person recording this thing. I was sitting next to Khalid and we were both there with our phones out. I had no idea that I was the only one doing it."
