Ariana Grande clearly had Mac Miller on her mind as she got ready to say goodbye to 2018, which has been an incredibly hard year for her.
The singer posted a sweet tribute on Instagram Stories to her ex-boyfriend, who passed away in September. She shared a photo of him playing the piano.
But she also shared a more positive message, saying: "Farewell 2018, you fuck. i hope this new year brings you all much laughter, clarity and healing. 🖤 be gentle with yourselves and each other. if we made it thru this last year, we’ll for sure make it thru this one. thank you for everything. 🖤.
After originally having to disable her Instagram comments after Mac's death due to trolls blaming her for his death, the next day she broke her silence by posting a sweet picture of Mac - real name Malcom McCormick - on her Instagram.
Then a week after his death she finally felt ready to open up about his passing. She posted a video of the rapper, with this sad caption:
"i adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will. i can't believe you aren't here anymore. i really can't wrap my head around it. we talked about this. so many times. i'm so mad, i'm so sad i don't know what to do. you were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. i'm so sorry i couldn't fix or take your pain away. i really wanted to. the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. i hope you're ok now. rest."
She also paid tribute to Mac at Thanksgiving. The 25-year-old shared a photo of the two of them with the caption, "You're v missed."
Mac and Ariana amicably broke up in May 2018.
