So you've left your charger at home and have a whole day of work ahead of you? Not ideal. But no worries: just double tap your home button and swipe up at some unnecessary background apps that are draining too much energy.

Except you might want to leave one of those little icons well alone.

According to a bunch of kindly Twitter people, WhatsApp has started sending alerts indicating that closing the program will stop you receiving notifications.

Which seems like common sense but, honestly, did you know? Battery be damned, you can't miss out on all those Minion memes from your sister-in-law.

Okay, so that's the bad WhatsApp news. But the good news is that back in October we discovered that you can actually delete sent WhatsApps.

Hallelujah.

WhatsApp has created an 'unsend' button which allows users of the instant messaging app to delete messages they've already sent. And it's something we'd like to think is designed entirely to minimise the damage of your reckless drunk texting.

Of course, as with most things in life, there's a catch. To gain access to the feature, both the person who sent the message and the message's recipient have to have the most updated version of Whatsapp on their iOS, Android or Windows phone.
