When it comes to all things health-related, particularly endometriosis, former Love Island star turned fashion mogul, Molly-Mae Hague, has always been candid, especially whilst chatting away to her followers on social media. So much so, that she in one of her latest vlogs she revealed that she recently had a pregnancy scare after a late period, and described taking a pregnancy test.

Sadly, Molly-Mae, who last year underwent surgery in the hopes it'd ease pain caused by her endometriosis (a condition that sees tissue grow in other places, such as on the ovaries and fallopian tubes), said that her operation "didn't work" and that she was left in "unbearable" pain when she finally did come on.

In the clip, she explained, "I am so premenstrual, it's a joke. I was meant to come on my period like four days ago, it's so late" before adding that to ease her mind she took a pregnancy test.

"I'm not going to lie, I did take a pregnancy test today. I'm literally never late on my period," she said, adding that the results were negative. "But the pregnancy test was negative, obviously."

"I wouldn't be sat here having this conversation if it was positive," Molly-Mae then joked.

Speaking while holding back tears, the influencer went on to reveal her disappointment at realising her surgery hadn't been totally successful.

Everyone's clicking on...

"So guys, the period came. I literally feel just like so rubbish. I just know that my operation hasn't worked and it's just sad. When I come on my period, that is the day for me, it's not really any other day that I suffer too badly. It's just when I come on, the pain is unbearable," she explained.

"Don't get me wrong, the pain is better than is used to be since I've had the operation. It's one of those days where I have to somehow make it through the day while being in so much pain."

Molly added: "I'm in meetings where I can't show that I just want to curl up in a ball and cry. That's how bad the pain is."

Heartbreakingly, whilst operations can be a game-changer for some sufferers, there is nothing able to fully cure endometriosis. "Certain alternative treatments - like acupuncture, physical therapy and nutritional counselling - might help to relieve symptoms, but there is no scientific evidence to back-up the effectiveness of herbal supplements, vaginal steams or detox pearls," cautions Dr. Natalya Danilyants, co-founder of The Center for Innovative GYN Care, when discussing some 'cures' touted online.

"It's important to separate treatments that are only addressing the symptoms versus methods that are actually treating the endometriosis. Minimally invasive excision surgery is going to treat the disease by fully removing the lesions but endometriosis can recur even after being removed, so a treatment plan can help to manage residual pain."
