Pregnancy can be a challenging experience, so genuinely useful tried and tested tips from a good friend are often welcomed by expectant mothers – and the same can be said for Ellie Goulding, who just shared that she's been receiving some brilliant advice from two rather well-known names: Princess Eugenie and Katy Perry.

Both Eugenie and Katy became mothers for the first time recently, so it's fantastic that they've been on hand to support Ellie, who is due to give birth to her first child, with husband Caspar Jopling, within the next month or two.

Speaking in a new interview with The Telegraph, Ellie revealed that her two friends had offered up tips on helpful products and the importance of sleep. "[Katy and Eugenie] gave me excellent advice like where to find the best pregnancy pillows to get a good night’s sleep."

She added that Eugenie in particular has been a big inspiration, saying, "She’s been a great friend throughout this. We’ve talked a lot about pregnancy and she’s been inspirational because she just takes everything in her stride. Katy [Perry] has been great too, and my manager has gone through her pregnancy with me, along with both our families and friends from home who have had babies. It just brings everyone closer together."

Ellie noted that speaking to her friends about her changing body and concerns has been a big comfort, "I do feel part of a bigger community and over the past few months I’ve realised why pregnant women want to talk to other pregnant women," she says. "Because it’s all the little tips, worries and stages you want to hear about."

She also shared that she's been keeping active throughout her pregnancy - it's widely known that the singer is passionate about running and keeping fit, to such an extent that she has a book on health and wellness which is due out later this year.

Everyone's clicking on...

"I’ve always had a runner’s body and now I have a bigger ass and these rather nice boobs," she joked during her interview, when asked about her growing figure, before adding, "I’ve been running since I was a teenager. Fitness, exercise and running are a massive part of my life. I wouldn’t recommend anyone taking up running in pregnancy but if you’ve always done it, there’s no problem continuing, although obviously you naturally take it more easy."

In general, the NHS's advice is that you should always be able to hold a conversation while working out during pregnancy (meaning no high intensity runs or HIIT classes). "Keep up your normal daily physical activity or exercise (sport, running, yoga, dancing, or even walking to the shops and back) for as long as you feel comfortable," it recommends.

Congratulations to Ellie and Caspar!
