All eyes are on Shakira as she prepares to wow at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) tonight, where she will also be awarded the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award.
To celebrate the accolade, Shakira will perform a medley of her greatest hits (here's hoping 'Hips Don't Lie' and 'She Wolf' make the cut!).
But whatever the set list, viewers are sure to be in for a treat – as Shakira has been sharing preparations with fans on Instagram, teasing the jaw-dropping contortion work her performance will include.
Known for her incredible vocals and dance moves, Shakira stays in shape by working out five days a week, according to trainer Anna Kaiser. Ahead of Shakira's world tour, the pair worked together to tone the singer's core and arms. "We focused on leaning out, strengthening her core, and boosting her booty—and then toning her arms like crazy," Kaiser revealed to Us Weekly. She also told E! News: "Some days we do just cardio and then strength and some days we start with strength and then do cardio, we like to mix it up."
As Shakira's latest Instagrams prove, some serious stretching must feature in the mix too. In one post, shared from rehearsals at Donald M. Payne Sr. Tech High School, the singer brings a new meaning to the phrase 'head over heels' - posing upside down with her boots close to her signature locks, grinning all the while like it's no big deal.
In another of the behind-the-scenes snaps, Shakira's seen wrapping both of her ankles around her neck at the same time, and if you need any more evidence her flexibility is on point, simply scroll for reams of evidence.
Everyone's clicking on...
So if you're excited to see the multi-talented performer body-roll and throw some moves, then you're in luck. We'd love to see her dance Champeta (a street dance style), like in her iconic 'Waka Waka' performance at the Super Bowl.
Reminiscing about the moment, Shakira previously told Cosmopolitan: "When I entered the U.S. market, I wanted to honor my Latin roots. At the Super Bowl, I wanted to introduce champeta, a street dance that belongs to a virtually unknown corner of my country."
Shakira also performed Afro-Colombian dance Mapalé, so it's possible she'll bring back the style for her big night.
As for what else fans can expect from the live performance, all will be revealed soon. But we can expect the showstopper slot to include all the works, as Shakira said she's trying "to cram an entire career" into the performance.
Good luck, Shakira. We'll be watching and dancing along.
