After keeping us waiting for a! whole! year! A$AP Rocky and Rihanna have confirmed the name of their son.

Taking to Instagram to celebrate the little boy's first birthday, A$AP shared a series of unseen family photos and announced his son's name in the caption: "HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY 1st BORN. RZA."

A$AP – whose real name is Rakim Mayers – also made a reference to the inspiration behind Rza's name.

"WU TANG IZ 4 DA CHUREN" he wrote in the caption, quoting the lead rapper of Wu-Tang Clan who his and Rihanna's son is named after.

It's unclear whether A$AP and Rihanna – who are currently expecting their second baby – had intended to share their son's name on his birthday, or if they were prompted by last week's leak. Fans of the couple were sent into a spiral when a birth certificate obtained by the Daily Mail and People magazine went viral, revealing their son's name as Rza Athelston Mayers.

Since then, there's been plenty of speculation about how to pronounce the little boy's name. Some fans took to social media to suggest the name was pronounced by reciting the letters 'R-Z-A', while others guessed it might sound like 'razor'. Others believe the name is pronounced the same as Wu-Tang Clan's Rza, whose name is pronounced: 'rizz-uh'.

As well as sharing their love for Rza's name, A$AP and Rihanna's fans were thrilled with the series of family photos the pair had opted to share to mark his birthday. "Awww he is soooo cute!!! The pics are just so heart warming!!!!" one fan commented, as someone else wrote: "Imagine being their kid wowzas."
