Molly-Mae and boyfriend Tommy Fury announced the birth of their daughter last week, and soon after revealed her Disney-inspired name – Bambi. But sadly the couple, who are both 23, were quickly inundated with negative comments on social media, with people sharing *opinions* towards the name.

Molly announced Bambi’s name alongside an adorable picture of the baby in her bedroom on Instagram, with comments turned off. Now, Molly has opened up about what it’s really been like to receive such a strong reaction to Bambi’s name.

In a recent YouTube video titled ‘My birth story’, Molly can be seen cradling Bambi in her arms on camera, with the opening sentence hinting at her daughter’s nickname: “You’ve got some people that you need to say hi to Bam-Bam,” she begins.

She then went on to say, “I’m Bambi Fury, that’s my name. I know some people may not like it, but I love it.”

Molly also explained that the day she revealed Bambi’s name was a “really hard day” for her, after trolls made their feelings known. “I can’t believe I can now say her name!’ she exclaimed, before adding: “The long-awaited name reveal, that was a really, really hard day for me, I’ll be completely honest.”

The influencer then confirmed she switched off her Instagram comments after seeing “nasty” remarks online: “I think I was just brought back down to planet earth very very quickly, of like how nasty this world can be,” she said.

Everyone's clicking on...

“I think because we’d always known that our first baby girl was going to be called Bambi, we had gotten so used to the idea of that being her name, and so to us that wasn’t really unusual anymore.

“I know it’s unusual and unique and not going to be to everyone’s taste, so when we announced it, in my mind, it’s a beautiful name. And then two seconds later, I was like, 'Oh my God!'”

Last year in the lead up to her birth, Molly took to her YouTube channel to warn people that they were either going to "love it or hate it". The former Love Islander also said she’d had the name Bambi picked out since she was a kid herself. "Luckily when I met Tommy and I told him the name I've always dreamt of using, he absolutely loved it too," she said.

Now a new mum and having fulfilled her dreams of calling her first daughter Bambi, Molly went on to say she wasn’t sure why she was addressing the name backlash in such what “was supposed to be a positive video”.

She went on to talk about her labour experience which was a vaginal birth in London. She revealed that she was induced after discovering she was already one centimetre dilated at a check-up when she was 37.5 weeks pregnant: “It felt like I was about to give birth to a brick.”

Tommy was by Molly’s side during the whole birth too where he saw “everything”: “It was like a science class,” Tommy said.

Congratulations once again, Tommy and Molly!
