Emily Awbrey (aka Emo-ly) is one of the rookies on America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Season 3, and if you’re midway through the show and simply cannot wait to find out if she made it through Training Camp…I get it. So let’s get into what happened with Emily and what she’s up to now.

Emily—a talented technical dancer with a cruise ship background—was a clear favorite of Kelli Finglass, but she struggled to learn the DCC’s intense choreography. And, despite impressing everyone with her high kicks, she was cut from Training Camp in round three of eliminations.

“I truly cannot describe how meaningful and impactful this experience has been for me,” Emily said while reflecting on her time at Training Camp. “Though I am not leaving with a uniform, I am leaving with so much more than I ever anticipated. I was challenged in ways I have never felt before. The physicality and mental strength it takes to succeed in this role is unmatched, and I feel so incredibly grateful to have shared the space with these talented girls. It was by no means a perfect journey, but I truly wouldn’t change a single moment.”

Emily’s elimination happened post-makeovers and uniform fittings, so it was especially heartbreaking. However, Kelli made sure to tell Emily that she was one of her “personal favorites in this training camp” and told her to re-audition next year. And…that’s exactly what she did! Emily’s been doing DCC prep classes (which help dancers prepare for the team’s unique high-power style) and practicing in her home studio:

The great news? She made the cut during auditions and is currently back in Training Camp preparing for the upcoming season, news that was announced by the official DCC Instagram just last week (swipe through to see the new Rookies)!
