As fans tune in to Love Island USA for new drama, recouplings, and steamy challenges every night, they may not realize that some of the Islanders may actually be building relationships outside of their couples. The first Islander who was booted from the Villa, Sean Reifel, recently revealed that he had been exploring a connection with Aniya Harvey, who’s still going strong with KC Chandler. But we would never know that, because any footage of Sean and Aniya—a potential pairing that I’ll lovingly refer to as Seaniya—remains unseen.
During a post-Villa interview with Swooon published on June 17, Sean dished that he “was very adamant in pulling Amiya for chats” while also exploring a connection with Beatriz Hatz.
“We had a lot of good conversations. We actually talked about the first meal [out of the Villa], and I still need to do it…I was going to eat one of her favorite meals when I got back to the States because we were talking about what meals we wanted to eat,” he admitted. “Hers was P.F. Chang’s Mongolian beef plate, so I’m definitely going to put that on my schedule to go grab that for her sake. And now I’ll send her a picture after the show, and she’s going to get a burger and fries for me.”
With all respect to KC, I’m kind of rooting for this connection based on this tidbit alone! Sean also dished that he and Aniya had “a lot of chats” where they discovered they were both watching the same anime, Haikyu, and bonded over their respective fitness journeys.
“She was honest with me,” he shared. “She said she’s open to exploring romantically. However, her and KC had a really strong connection, and as you can see, it’s still going strong today. And it wasn’t to the point…She’s very loyal. She’s got a lot of good traits, so I put my best foot forward. I said, ‘You’re lucky that the boys weren’t picking tonight,’ because I would have picked her for that one.”
As Sean’s family tuned in to the show, his mom reassured him that she saw the sparks between him and Aniya. “I do think that you and Aniya missed a connection,” she told Sean over FaceTime when he regained access to his phone beyond the Villa. “There’s stuff about Aniya that I saw that you didn’t see about her as a person, that I think you guys have so much in common, and I really think that you two could have made a deep connection.”
During the catch-up, he admitted that he “really did like Aniya” during his time in the Villa because she’s “super down to earth and very genuine.”
“There’s so many people shipping you guys. So many,” Sean’s mom added.
