• Sophie Willett and Dave Hand won Netflix’s Perfect Match season 4 and an all-expenses-paid Maldives trip.
  • The pair has given an update on their relationship status since winning the reality show.
  • Here’s where Sophie and Dave stand after Perfect Match.

After contestants spent nearly three weeks in the luxurious Perfect Match villa in Tulum, Netflix has officially crowned season 4’s winners. Sophie Willett and Dave Hand won a romantic, all-expenses-paid vacation for two at the end of the season, but fans of the reality show are already wondering whether they’re still together after it all went down.

Luckily, both Sophie and Dave have given viewers a major update on their relationship status after the show. While they were inseparable in the villa, their real-life romance didn’t exactly pan out, since Sophie is based in the UK and Dave lives in Australia.

“Unfortunately, there is a whole wide ocean in between us,” Sophie admitted during an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. “Lack of communication and effort resulted in us having a conversation to just remain friends.”

In a separate conversation with Australian outlet New Idea, Dave also explained that maintaining a long-distance relationship became “difficult” because of the time difference.

“There were about six or eight weeks until we had our trip to the Maldives, and I think when we went back home, the communication was up, the buzz is high and it was just like, what an amazing thing we did,” he said, adding, “Communication dropped off on both of our ends with the time difference and the ocean between us, you know what I mean? It was our lives sort of came back to normal, and you realise ‘oh shit, this is gonna be difficult.’”

He also revealed the timeline of their split, telling the outlet that their romance ended 24 hours into their Perfect Match prize trip to the Maldives.

“I think we’re the only two people who friend-zoned each other in Maldives history,” he shared. “We were lucky, we had late flights the next day, so we had a full day to ourselves in Mexico. Everyone was leaving during the day, and we had another 24 hours together. We went out for dinner, walked along the beach, had piña coladas, and it was nice.”

As for whether they’ve moved on with other people? Sophie claims she’s “as single as I was two years ago when I went on Love Is Blind: UK,” but encourages people to “slide right on in” to her DMs, since they’re “very much open.”

And Dave? Well, he says, “Nothing has changed too drastically just yet” when it comes to his dating life, but he’s “definitely focused on meeting [his] person.”

Wishing these two nothing but the best in finding their real-life perfect matches!
